2010 Was a Busy Year...

2010 was such a busy but fun year...Hunter had so many 'firsts' from his first trip to the beach, first trip to the Zoo, first steps, first words, etc. It was a great year and we are looking forward to making more wonderful memories in 2011. Here is a look back at 2010:
  • Many trips to the pool (Hunter is such a water baby!) with Gigi & Poppy
  • Family vacation to Myrtle Beach
  • Metro Richmond Zoo-Hunter loved petting the giraffe's and seeing the cute penguins up close
  • Children's Museum of Richmond visits
  • Allie played soccer every Wednesday for an 8 week session at RISE
  • Visiting with the Easter bunny at Lewis Ginter
  • Yummy lunches at Allie's favorite restaurant-Firebirds :-)
  • Allie's 3rd birthday party "Tinkerbell theme"
  • 2 visits to Busch Garden's (once with Gigi & Poppy) & Allie rode her first roller coaster (Elmo!)
  • Williamsburg for some fun outlet shopping (Daddy's favorite yearly tradition! haha)
  • Hunter's first words: Mama, his first steps, first time to sleep in his crib, etc.
  • Riding the train at Short Pump mall
  • Allie's first visit to ChuckeCheese
  • Many trips to Barnes & Noble to play with the trains (gotta love free entertainment)
  • Hunter's first birthday! Monkey themed, of course
  • Santa dinner at Lewis Ginter (very memorable...) and the Christmas lights
  • Many visits with family who made the long drive down from Maryland to spend time with us
  • 3 date nights that Clint and I had (my birthday dinner, anniversary dinner at The Melting Pot and a night out while on vacation at the beach-spent by the pool bar and walking on the beach)

Snowy Start to the Year

Playing in the snow last week...he wasn't too sure about being so cold

Hunter could barely walk in the snow this time

Building a snowman with Daddy
Allie loves to play in the snow so I always send Daddy out so I can stay warm inside :-)

Hunter's Growing Vocabulary

The year is off to a great start! Hunter has started saying a ton of words, he is such a quick learner. He went to a RompnRoll class last week with other children his age while Allie and her friend did an art class there. Hunter impressed the other mom's with his vocabulary. He was running around picking up the big balls and yelling 'BALL!!' and when the instructor asked us to clean up the blocks and toys he knew what to do and picked up the blocks and was saying 'UP' and putting them in their basket. He has learned a lot from his big sister.

His vocabulary consists of the following words: Mama, Dada, Gigi (he is still shy about saying this one but we have heard it at least 3 times) duck, ball, dog, up, nite nite, poop, bye bye, nana (banana) and most recently he has learned to say yes. We ask him if he has a poop and he will touch his diaper and say poop. We ask if he wants to eat or have milk and he will say yes!

We registered Allie for official preschool today. It starts in the fall and we are hoping that she will get in-apparently it is very hard to get a spot because they only have 2 classes and 14 kids per class. We are members of the church so we do have a priority over members of the community however the children in the 3 year old class have higher priority and will more than likely want to continue with the 4 year old class next year...so we'll see. The class is three days per week 9:30-2:30 which would be perfect and allow for the youngest 2 to have playtime at home and lunch and nap before having to go pick up Allie. We find out in 2 weeks if we were able to secure a spot.
